Corliss Cavalieri is a Philadelphia-based artist who studied at the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore, Maryland (BFA) and the Tyler School of Art in Philadelphia, PA (MFA). He was a member of the original 55 Mercer Street Gallery in the SoHo district of New York City, a cooperative space where he regularly exhibited and curated exhibitions over a period of 12 years. He has been an invited guest artist for solo exhibits at their gallery space in Chelsea, —NoHo M55, and will exhibit there in January – February 2026. In Philadelphia he has exhibited at Zone One Gallery, Burrison Art Gallery, William Way Center, Pageant: Soloveev Gallery, and the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce where he contributed a large work on view as a long-term loan. Regionally, Mr. Cavalieri has shown his work at the Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art in central Pennsylvania and has been curated into numerous group shows in Baltimore, MD; Washington, D.C; Pittsburgh, PA; and Philadlephia, PA. Mr. Cavalieri was also selected as a feature artist in Philadelphia’s Wind Challenge Exhibition Program of 2017-2018. In addition to exhibiting and curating, the artist has attended residencies at the Vermont Studio Center (VT) in 1996, 2006, and 2007, Yaddo (NY) 2008, the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts (VA) in 2010, and the Jentel Residency (WY) in 2015. He was accepted to the Can Serrat residency in Spain for 2012, and the Auvillar residency in France for 2016. The artist has also worked in arts administration in positions as director or curator at the following institutions: Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art (Altoona, PA), Mangel Gallery (Philadelphia, PA), Port of History/Civic center Museum (Philadelphia, PA), and Paul Robeson Galleries Rutgers University (Newark, NJ). Mr. Cavalieri has work in public and private collections, and maintains a full time active studio practice in Philadelphia.
